Pakistan Rebukes Indian Media Over False Ceasefire Narrative

Pakistan has firmly rejected Indian media claims that it requested a ceasefire following recent Indian aggression.

In an official statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the spokesperson clarified that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar never stated that Pakistan sought a ceasefire. Instead, Pakistan exercised its right to self-defence and responded decisively to Indian provocations.

“The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister has clearly stated in interviews that Pakistan did not initiate any ceasefire request,” said the spokesperson. “It was the United States, particularly Secretary of State Rubio, who called Senator Dar around 8:15 AM on 10 May 2025 and conveyed that India was ready to cease hostilities if Pakistan agreed. Senator Dar confirmed Pakistan’s willingness.”

The statement also noted that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal later reiterated the same message in a separate call around 9:00 AM the same day.

“Friendly countries, especially the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, played a key role in facilitating the ceasefire. But let it be clear: Pakistan did not ask for it. We responded in defence — firmly and with clarity,” the statement concluded.
