Pakistan’s Foreign Office has confirmed that counterterrorism operations targeting militant sanctuaries in Afghanistan are ongoing, following the conclusion of a temporary pause observed during the recent Eid al-Fitr. In a formal media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi stated that the operational pause granted during Eid has now ended, and security actions will continue until their stated objectives are fully achieved.
“The operations are being conducted with utmost precision and caution,” Andrabi emphasized, noting that Pakistan has taken extensive measures to avoid civilian casualties. He further asserted that the operations have contributed to a significant decline in attacks attributed to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and affiliated elements operating across the border.
Addressing regional security concerns, Andrabi highlighted that Pakistan’s actions are part of a broader effort to safeguard national security and ensure stability along its western frontier. He reiterated that the country remains committed to combating terrorism in all its forms while adhering to international norms and humanitarian considerations.
On diplomatic matters, the spokesperson criticized recent remarks issued by Ministry of External Affairs India, describing them as “undiplomatic” and reflective of frustration. Responding to controversial statements by Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Andrabi underscored that Pakistan’s foreign policy approach is rooted in restraint, dignity, and responsible engagement.
“Pakistan continues to pursue a policy grounded in composure and constructive diplomacy,” he said, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to maintaining regional peace through dialogue and mutual respect.
Additionally, Andrabi addressed claims related to alleged attacks on Gulf states, cautioning that the possibility of “false flag operations” cannot be ruled out. He urged the international community to approach such claims with careful scrutiny and emphasized the importance of evidence-based assessments.
The Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s stance on promoting regional stability while defending its sovereignty against security threats. Officials stressed that ongoing operations and diplomatic efforts are aligned with the country’s long-term objective of peace, security, and cooperation in the region.
