Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Poland played a significant role in the establishment of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), and that the two countries share a historic and distinctive relationship built on mutual respect and cooperation.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with Poland and views the country as an important and trusted partner.
“Poland has played a vital part in laying the foundation of the Pakistan Air Force. We value our longstanding and unique relations with Poland and look forward to expanding cooperation in trade, defense, and technology,” Dar stated, welcoming the Polish Deputy Prime Minister on his two-day official visit to Pakistan.
The two sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations, explore new avenues of economic and defense cooperation, and enhance collaboration to combat terrorism. Dar said the issue of cross-border terrorism from Afghan soil also came under discussion during the talks.
He added that Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister expressed concern over India’s aggression and reaffirmed support for Pakistan’s principled stance on the Kashmir issue.
Following the press conference, Pakistan and Poland signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance institutional collaboration. These included an agreement between the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM), witnessed by both Deputy Prime Ministers.
Earlier, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski arrived in Islamabad on Thursday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Ishaq Dar.
Upon arrival, Sikorski was received by Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the two leaders held in-depth discussions on matters of mutual interest, including political dialogue, economic partnership, and regional developments.
According to the Foreign Office, the visit marks a significant milestone in Pakistan–Poland relations and reaffirms Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Warsaw for mutual benefit.
In July, both countries had agreed to enhance cooperation through high-level exchanges, parliamentary contacts, and structured dialogue during the ninth round of Bilateral Political Consultations held in Warsaw. The consultations also covered regional and global developments, including South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. It was mutually agreed that the next round of consultations will be held in Islamabad in 2026.
