The Pakistan Navy has conducted a two-day Port Security and Harbour Defence Exercise at Karachi and Port Qasim to strengthen maritime security, enhance inter-agency coordination, and ensure uninterrupted commercial operations at the country’s key ports.
The exercise was organised under the Pakistan Navy’s Coastal Command and saw the participation of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, Karachi Port Trust, and other law enforcement agencies. The primary objective was to identify potential threats to maritime installations, ensure their timely detection, and implement immediate and effective countermeasures.
Multiple operational scenarios were simulated to evaluate the preparedness of participating organisations and their capacity for a coordinated response. The drills placed particular emphasis on improving communication systems, enhancing situational awareness, and integrating the command-and-control network.
The exercise demonstrated the Pakistan Navy’s resolve, in collaboration with national stakeholders, to safeguard maritime assets and keep trade activities at the country’s ports running smoothly without disruption.
