Pakistan Navy Chief Conferred with Turkey’s Prestigious Military Award

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf was conferred with the prestigious “Legion of Merit of the Turkish Armed Forces” during his official visit to Turkiye, in recognition of his outstanding services and efforts to strengthen naval cooperation between the two brotherly nations. Upon his arrival at the Turkish Naval Forces Headquarters, Admiral Naveed Ashraf was warmly received and presented with a guard of honour.

During the visit, the Naval Chief held a significant meeting with the Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces. Both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, with a particular focus on enhancing bilateral maritime cooperation. As part of his official engagements, Admiral Naveed Ashraf also held meetings with the Turkish Minister of National Defence, the Chief of the General Staff, and the Commander of the Turkish Naval Fleet. These interactions underscored the importance of regional maritime security, deepening defence partnerships, enhancing joint naval exercises, and improving training capabilities.

The Naval Chief also visited the Istanbul Naval Shipyard to review progress on the Pakistan Navy’s MILGEM project and observed Turkey’s indigenous submarine construction capabilities during his tour of the Golcuk Naval Base.

Additionally, Admiral Naveed Ashraf visited various Turkish naval installations, including onboard a Turkish naval vessel, and laid a floral wreath at the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkiye.

The visit of the Chief of the Naval Staff is expected to further consolidate the robust maritime collaboration between Pakistan and Turkiye, reinforcing the strategic partnership and shared commitment to regional peace and stability.
