Pakistan, India Agree to Immediate Ceasefire: Foreign and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Confirms

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed that Pakistan and India have reached an agreement on an immediate ceasefire, following intense diplomatic efforts throughout the day.

Speaking to media, Ishaq Dar stated that both countries agreed to halt hostilities at 4:30 PM. “War is never a solution,” he remarked. “We conveyed our willingness for a ceasefire but made it clear that any act of aggression by India would be met with a resolute response.”

Dar expressed gratitude to the countries that facilitated the ceasefire agreement, acknowledging their role in the diplomatic efforts. He said, “We are thankful to all the nations that contributed to this outcome. Throughout the day, extensive diplomatic engagements took place which ultimately led to consensus on a ceasefire.”

The Deputy Prime Minister further said that Pakistan demonstrated its full defensive capability and responded to provocations with dignity. “We affirmed our commitment to peace by accepting the ceasefire. Pakistan has always defended its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and has consistently pursued peace in the region without compromising on national dignity,” he said.

The announcement marks a significant de-escalation in tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
