Pakistan hosted the Regional Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference in Islamabad on Friday, bringing together senior military leadership from the United States of America, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan in a major multilateral effort to deepen regional defence cooperation and strategic dialogue.

The high-profile gathering marked a significant step in advancing military diplomacy and enhancing collective efforts against shared security challenges, under the theme “Strengthening Bonds, Securing Peace.” Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), welcomed the distinguished delegations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring commitment to peace, stability, and constructive engagement in the region.

“In an era defined by transnational threats and complex hybrid challenges, the imperative for deeper military-to-military cooperation, strategic dialogue, and mutual trust is paramount. Pakistan remains fully committed to working with partner nations to build a secure and prosperous regional environment,” said the COAS during his address.

The conference featured comprehensive deliberations on regional security dynamics, the evolving strategic landscape of Central and South Asia, and the need for joint training initiatives, enhanced counterterrorism cooperation, and coordinated humanitarian responses during crises.

Delegates jointly reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding regional peace, upholding national sovereignty, and confronting common threats such as terrorism, cyber insecurity, and violent extremism. Participants lauded Pakistan’s leadership, hospitality, and initiative in hosting the conference, describing it as a timely and forward-looking platform for inclusive defence diplomacy. The event underscored Pakistan’s pivotal role in promoting regional solidarity, security interdependence, and strategic convergence among partner nations.
