Pakistan Forces Repel Taliban’s Cross-Border Attack on Civilian Areas in Chaman

In a grave provocation, Afghan Taliban forces resorted to indiscriminate firing on civilian settlements along the Chaman border, leaving a child and two civilians injured. The unprovoked assault, carried out under the cover of darkness, directly targeted civilian populations in violation of all international norms and humanitarian principles.

Officials confirmed that the Frontier Corps (FC) immediately and effectively retaliated, engaging Taliban positions with precision artillery strikes. The counteraction inflicted heavy losses on the attackers, with at least twenty Taliban fighters confirmed dead and around twenty-five others seen being evacuated from the area.

Witnesses and officials reported that Taliban firing spread panic in border towns, forcing the closure of educational institutions in Chaman on Wednesday. By targeting schools and populated areas, the Taliban once again demonstrated their hostility to education, peace, and stability.

The Pakistani forces’ response was described as measured yet decisive focused solely on neutralising hostile posts while ensuring maximum protection for civilians. Multiple Taliban positions have since been destroyed, significantly reducing their capacity to engage in further aggression.

The incident underscores the deteriorating discipline and aggressive intent of the Taliban forces, who continue to threaten regional peace through reckless cross-border attacks. Officials reiterated that Pakistan has exercised maximum restraint despite repeated provocations but remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and citizens against any form of aggression.
