Pakistan deported more than 10,000 Afghan nationals to Afghanistan in just one day amid its ongoing crackdown on undocumented immigrants, citing official sources.
According to the report, around 10,700 Afghans were expelled through the Chaman–Spin Boldak border crossing, marking one of the largest single-day deportations in recent months.
Authorities also briefly reopened the Torkham border crossing exclusively for deportations, denying entry to commercial traffic and patients.
Pakistan reopened Torkham only to facilitate deportations, adding that around 1,400 families — nearly 8,000 individuals — were sent back to Afghanistan on Saturday.
The Torkham and Chaman crossings had been closed following recent clashes between Pakistani and Taliban border forces, which disrupted trade and travel for several days.
Pakistan has recently intensified efforts to expel undocumented Afghan migrants, forcing thousands, many of whom had lived in Pakistan for decades.
