Pakistan Denies Involvement in Pahalgam Tourist Attack, Condemns Indian Media’s Propaganda

Pakistan has categorically rejected allegations of involvement in the recent deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), and has condemned Indian media for spreading false and baseless propaganda.

The response came following a tragic incident on Tuesday in the Anantnag district’s popular hill resort of Pahalgam, where gunmen ambushed a group of tourists, killing at least 26 and injuring over three dozen. Many of the injured remain in critical condition.

In a strong statement, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif dismissed India’s accusations as “baseless and fabricated,” stating that Pakistan had no connection to the incident. He criticized India for hastily blaming Pakistan without conducting any investigation, calling it a habitual tactic used to deflect attention from domestic unrest.

Khawaja Asif highlighted the internal crises facing India, pointing to rising public dissent in Nagaland, Manipur, Kashmir, and Chhattisgarh, and urged New Delhi to focus on its treatment of its own citizens instead of scapegoating others.

Echoing these sentiments, Pakistan’s Foreign Office also voiced concern over the loss of innocent lives and offered condolences to the families of the deceased, along with prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. “We are concerned at the loss of tourists’ lives in an attack in Anantnag. We extend our condolences to the families and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” the spokesperson said.

The Foreign Office also condemned the irresponsible behavior of Indian media, which began spreading anti-Pakistan narratives immediately after the attack, despite the absence of any credible evidence.
