Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has lashed out at Afghan nationals and Taliban fighters for their involvement in terrorist attacks inside Pakistan, declaring that a nation for whom Pakistan fought wars, sacrificed peace, economy, and lost hundreds of thousands of lives is now repaying with the blood of Pakistani children an act of unprecedented ingratitude in history. He revealed that in the latest encounter, three of the slain attackers were Afghans and two were members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
In a statement on social media platform X, Khawaja Asif said that the Pakistan Army once again sacrificed a brave son of the soil, Major Adnan, in defence of the motherland. He quoted the officer’s mother as saying she would gladly sacrifice ten sons if she had them for the honour of Pakistan. The officer’s sisters and wife were in mourning, while his father, consoling mourners, said: “I am strong, my son is my pride.”
The minister noted that Major Adnan was a graduate of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. “Who are these men whose mission is love for the motherland and martyrdom? They seek neither power, nor wealth, nor fame. By their sacrifice, Allah has kept this sacred land in His protection, and through their blood we prevailed over India,” he remarked.
Khawaja Asif lamented that despite Pakistan fighting two long wars for Afghanistan, destroying its own peace and economy and sheltering 6 to 7 million Afghans for decades, Afghan nationals continue to collude with Taliban militants in attacks against Pakistan. “They live under our protection, earn livelihoods, prosper as contractors and transporters, yet Afghan soil sends fighters to play with the blood of our children. Such betrayal and ingratitude has never been witnessed in the history of the world,” he asserted.
