Pakistan Conducts 75,175 Intelligence-Based Operations in One Year, Terrorism a National War: DG ISPR

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, on Tuesday reaffirmed that Pakistan’s fight against terrorism is not limited to security forces alone but represents a united struggle of the entire nation. Addressing a press conference, he provided a comprehensive overview of counterterrorism efforts undertaken over the past year and underscored the clarity and resolve with which the state and people of Pakistan now confront the menace of terrorism.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that the purpose of the press briefing was to present a holistic account of measures taken against terrorism during the last year, highlighting the scale, consistency, and effectiveness of intelligence-led operations carried out across the country.

“Terrorism is a challenge Pakistan has been confronting for more than two decades,” he said. “Today, there is complete clarity and unity between the state of Pakistan and its people. Terrorism has no connection with Islam, and those who perpetrate such acts do not represent our faith, values, or society.”

The DG ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s security forces—working in close coordination with law enforcement agencies and intelligence services—have maintained relentless pressure on terrorist networks. He revealed that a total of 75,175 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were conducted nationwide during the reporting period.

Providing a regional breakdown, he stated that:

  • 14,658 intelligence-based operations were carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and

  • 58,778 intelligence-based operations were conducted in Balochistan.

These operations, he noted, were executed by the Pakistan Army in coordination with the police, Frontier Corps (FC), and intelligence agencies, reflecting a whole-of-state approach to counterterrorism.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also reiterated that terrorist elements operating under the guise of regional or ethnic identities have no genuine link to local populations or their culture. He categorically stated that terrorist groups have no association with Balochistan or Baloch identity, just as they have no ideological or moral connection with Islam.

Highlighting the regional dimension of the threat, the DG ISPR pointed out that Afghanistan continues to be used as a base of operations by terrorist elements targeting Pakistan, stressing the need for sustained regional and international attention to this issue.

“The war against terrorism is a national war,” he concluded. “Pakistan’s security forces, law enforcement agencies, and the people stand shoulder to shoulder in safeguarding the country’s peace, stability, and future.”

The press conference reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and underscored the sacrifices and professionalism of its security forces in ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
