In a stunning assessment, leading U.S. defense publication The National Interest has reported that the May 7 aerial clash between Pakistan and India ended in a clear and decisive victory for Pakistan.

The magazine noted that, while most defense analysts initially expected India to dominate due to its superior numbers and resources, the outcome surprised many: Pakistan’s air force displayed undeniable aerial superiority during the engagement.

According to The National Interest, Pakistan made significant gains following the clash, including publicly announcing the downing of five Indian fighter jets — a claim India has notably not denied, raising doubts about the Indian military’s narrative and credibility.

The report specifies that Pakistan used Chinese J-10C fighter jets equipped with PL-15 long-range missiles to shoot down the Indian aircraft. Among the downed jets were reportedly three French-built Rafale fighters, considered among India’s most advanced and expensive combat assets.

The article emphasizes that the aerial skirmish has sent a powerful message to the West: “Do not underestimate Chinese military technology.”

This unexpected outcome has not only reshaped regional dynamics but also challenged global perceptions regarding the capabilities of China’s defense exports and Pakistan’s operational readiness.
