Pakistan’s military said robust retaliatory operations against Afghan Taliban positions are continuing under “Operation Ghazab Lil Haqq,” following what officials described as unprovoked aggression along the Pak-Afghan border.
Security sources stated that Pakistani forces destroyed the Afghan Kharchaar check post adjacent to the Kurram sector, claiming multiple Afghan personnel were killed in the exchange. According to officials, Afghan Taliban units have suffered heavy casualties and material losses since the escalation began.
The military said it has secured control of a key Afghan Taliban “Markaz” post as part of the ongoing operation, which it vowed will continue until its stated objectives are achieved.
Security officials added that on February 28, 2026, in broad daylight, Pakistani troops crossed the border fence from the North Waziristan side and advanced swiftly towards the Afghan Taliban’s central post. A video of the cross-border maneuver has surfaced, purportedly showing Pakistani soldiers moving into Afghan territory. Sources claimed that Afghan Taliban fighters retreated upon sighting advancing Pakistani forces.
According to security sources, Pakistani troops carried out effective retaliatory action, cleared Taliban compounds in the area, and removed enemy flags after securing the post.
Officials reiterated that Operation Ghazab Lil Haqq remains underway and will persist until all operational targets are met.
The escalation has resulted in significant casualties, according to Pakistani authorities. Officials claim that 352 Afghan soldiers and Taliban fighters have been killed so far under the operation.
Two days earlier, Information Minister Atta Tarar said Afghanistan had suffered substantial human and material losses. He stated that 352 Afghan personnel were killed and 535 injured within two days of fighting.
The minister further claimed that Pakistan had destroyed 130 Afghan check posts and taken full control of 26 others. He also said 171 tanks and military vehicles were destroyed, and that successful air strikes were carried out at 41 locations inside Afghanistan as part of the ongoing military campaign.
