Pakistan, China Launch “Warrior-IX” Joint Counterterrorism Exercise to Strengthen Military Cooperation

The Pakistan Army and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China have commenced Warrior-IX, the ninth edition of their annual joint military exercise designed to enhance combined counterterrorism capabilities and deepen strategic defence cooperation between the two Iron Clad Brothers.

The exercise, which began on 1 December at the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) in Pabbi, focuses on modern counterterrorism operations with an aim to strengthen interoperability, refine professional skills, and facilitate the exchange of contemporary combat techniques between the two forces.

Pakistan and China share decades of time-tested, all-weather military collaboration rooted in mutual trust and strategic alignment. Exercise Warrior-IX stands as a testament to the enduring strength of their defence partnership and reaffirms the two nations’ shared resolve to promote regional peace, security, and stability.

The opening ceremony was attended by senior military leadership from both countries, including Mangla Corps Commander and Major General Bian Xiaoming, Deputy Chief of Staff, Western Theatre Command of the PLA. Officials underscored the significance of sustained joint training in confronting evolving security challenges and enhancing collective preparedness.

Exercise Warrior-IX will continue over the coming days, featuring advanced counterterrorism drills, coordinated tactical manoeuvres, and integrated training modules aimed at further fortifying Pakistan-China military ties.
