Pakistan Briefs Foreign Envoys on Escalating Border Tensions with Afghanistan, Reasserts Right to Defend Sovereignty

Pakistan briefed foreign envoys in Islamabad on the escalating border tensions with Afghanistan, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity amid ongoing cross-border hostilities.

According to an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs convened the briefing under the chairmanship of Deputy Foreign Minister Amina Baloch. Ambassadors and senior diplomats from a number of countries attended the session, which focused on the deteriorating security situation along the Pakistan–Afghanistan frontier.

Baloch underscored that Pakistan faces persistent and unprovoked attacks across the border, describing them as a serious threat to regional peace and stability. She reiterated that Pakistan’s security concerns are legitimate and deeply rooted in recent provocations and acts of aggression. “Pakistan will continue to exercise maximum restraint, but any violation of its territorial integrity will be met with a resolute response,” she said, urging the international community to take note of the gravity of the situation.

The meeting came as clashes intensified along multiple sectors of the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, where recent Taliban attacks have not only endangered lives but also disrupted vital trade and humanitarian routes. Officials stressed that Pakistan remains firmly committed to peaceful engagement but will not compromise on its national security or allow any external force to challenge its sovereignty.

Diplomatic observers said the move reflects Islamabad’s proactive effort to keep the international community informed and to counter disinformation emerging from across the border. They added that Pakistan’s outreach underscores its preference for de-escalation through dialogue, while making clear that continued provocations could undermine regional stability and humanitarian access across the frontier.

The Ministry reaffirmed that Pakistan’s Armed Forces are fully prepared to defend the nation’s borders and that any act of aggression will be responded to firmly and proportionately.
