Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held an important meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during which both sides reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the all-weather strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
In a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi described the Pakistan Army as “a pillar of national stability and a strong guardian of China-Pakistan friendship and cooperation.” He said the Army had always extended full support to the implementation of key consensus reached between the leadership of the two countries.
“Amid the growing uncertainties in the world, strengthening Pakistan-China relations is highly beneficial for regional peace and stability,” Wang Yi observed. He stressed that Pakistan has always been a top priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy, and despite the test of time, bilateral ties had grown stronger. “Our two countries have established a resilient traditional friendship that continues to flourish,” he added.
Wang Yi assured that China would continue its steadfast support for Pakistan in safeguarding its regional integrity and national security, while also welcoming Islamabad’s constructive role in international affairs.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry also highlighted the remarks of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who described China as Pakistan’s “iron brother” and emphasised that the Pakistan-China strategic partnership was “as solid as a rock.” He noted that both nations had always stood shoulder-to-shoulder through every challenge.
“Maintaining friendly ties with China is the unanimous position of the entire Pakistani nation,” Field Marshal Asim Munir said. He expressed his gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their valuable cooperation in Pakistan’s economic and social development and reaffirmed the Army’s readiness to actively promote counter-terrorism and security cooperation with Beijing.
The Army Chief further underlined Pakistan’s resolve to ensure the safety and protection of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions across the country. “We remain firmly committed to safeguarding our Chinese brothers and their undertakings in Pakistan. Together, we will continue to strengthen our friendship and advance steadily on the path of development,” he added.
