The Field General Court Martial (FGCM) of the Pakistan Army has sentenced former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment after being found guilty on multiple charges, including engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act, misusing authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.
The legal proceedings, initiated on 12 August 2024 under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act, spanned over 15 months. The Court, while delivering its verdict today, confirmed that all proceedings were conducted in strict accordance with legal provisions, ensuring that the accused was afforded full legal rights, including representation by a defense team of his choice. The convicted officer retains the right to appeal at the appropriate forum.
The Pakistan Army further stated that the involvement of the convict in activities aimed at political agitation and destabilization, in coordination with political elements, is being addressed separately.
