The Pakistan Navy and the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) have successfully concluded their bilateral maritime exercise, Sea Guardians-IV, reaffirming their shared commitment to regional maritime security, operational excellence, and strategic cooperation.
According to an official statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise was conducted from March 25 to April 1, 2026, with the primary objective of enhancing interoperability, strengthening professional collaboration, and promoting maritime security between the two naval forces.
The exercise was executed in two distinct phases. The harbour phase, held at Karachi Port, spanned five days and included a series of professional engagements such as cross-ship visits, expert-level discussions, tours of naval facilities, and a dedicated seminar for young officers aimed at fostering knowledge exchange and leadership development.
The arrival of the Chinese naval ship Daqing was marked by a warm reception from Pakistan Navy Ship PNS Taimur, symbolizing the enduring friendship and deep-rooted naval cooperation between the two nations.
The subsequent sea phase, conducted over two days in the North Arabian Sea, featured a range of advanced operational drills. These included air defence exercises, anti-submarine warfare operations, conventional combat maneuvers, and live weapon firing drills. The comprehensive nature of these exercises significantly enhanced the tactical proficiency and coordination capabilities of both navies.
At the conclusion of the exercise, naval units from both countries carried out a coordinated joint patrol in the Arabian Sea. This final demonstration underscored their collective resolve to ensure maritime stability, safeguard vital sea lanes, and contribute to peace and security in the region.
Defence officials noted that Sea Guardians-IV reflects the growing depth of Pakistan-China defence relations and highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing evolving maritime challenges.
Pakistan and China continue to strengthen their strategic partnership through such regular engagements, contributing positively to regional stability and fostering a secure maritime environment.
