In a significant diplomatic development, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, as both sides expressed satisfaction over recent progress in bilateral relations since Dar’s visit to Kabul on April 19.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders discussed strengthening cooperation in trade, connectivity, economic collaboration, and reviving people-to-people exchanges. The conversation focused on reactivating political consultations and establishing long-term mechanisms for regional peace and stability.
Foreign Minister Dar also briefed his Afghan counterpart on India’s recent provocations against Pakistan, highlighting New Delhi’s illegal and unilateral actions that threaten regional harmony. Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace, while firmly upholding its sovereignty and national security.
In response, Muttaqi appreciated Pakistan’s proactive efforts to facilitate trade and ease travel restrictions, particularly in a region where economic cooperation remains a vital need.
The call concluded on a positive note, with the Afghan minister inviting Ishaq Dar for a follow-up visit to Afghanistan, signalling a potential diplomatic thaw and deeper engagement between the two neighbours.
