In the wake of rising regional tensions, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), chaired a Special Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at General Headquarters (GHQ) today, where Pakistan’s top military leadership conducted an in-depth review of the geo-strategic situation, particularly focusing on the Pakistan-India standoff and broader regional security dynamics.
The high-level meeting reaffirmed the Pakistan Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation against any form of aggression or misadventure. General Munir praised the professionalism, morale, and operational readiness of Pakistan’s forces, emphasizing the critical need for heightened vigilance and proactive preparedness.
Grave concern was expressed over India’s escalating actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), especially following the controversial Pahalgam incident. The Forum strongly condemned the ongoing targeting of civilians along the Line of Control (LoC), warning that such unprovoked hostilities would be met with a firm and proportionate response.
In a pointed critique, the Forum highlighted India’s repeated exploitation of crises to pursue domestic and strategic gains — drawing parallels to the Pulwama incident of 2019, which preceded the revocation of Article 370. The recent Pahalgam event, military leaders believe, is part of a calculated effort to divert attention from Pakistan’s gains on the western front and economic recovery efforts.
The CCC also raised alarms over India’s apparent attempts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty, accusing New Delhi of seeking to “weaponize water” and threatening the livelihoods of over 240 million Pakistanis. The Forum denounced these moves as provocations with far-reaching consequences for regional peace and stability.
Furthermore, credible evidence was cited regarding Indian military and intelligence involvement in terrorist activities inside Pakistan — actions the Forum declared as blatant violations of international norms.
While reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace and regional stability, the military leadership made it unequivocally clear: any attempt to impose war or destabilise Pakistan will be met with a decisive response. The Forum concluded with General Munir expressing full confidence in the armed forces’ ability to deter threats and uphold the aspirations of the Pakistani people.
