Authorities have successfully evicted more than 57,000 undocumented Afghan nationals from the Saranan and Surkhab Road refugee camps in Pishin District, marking the completion of a large-scale security and regulatory operation.
Government sources confirmed that these individuals had been residing in the two camps without proper documentation. Following an initial operation launched in September 2025, approximately 10,000 individuals remained. A renewed operation concluded on 2 February 2026, resulting in the complete evacuation and deportation of all remaining residents.
Both camps have now been entirely cleared and demolished to prevent the recurrence of illegal settlement, though mosques and water supply infrastructure have been preserved to ensure access to essential services for local communities.
Security sources highlighted that the operations were not only aimed at enforcing immigration laws but also at safeguarding public safety. Investigations revealed that some individuals residing in the camps were allegedly involved in facilitating terrorist activities linked to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in the province.
Authorities emphasized that the operation was conducted in strict accordance with legal frameworks and security protocols, with the dual objectives of maintaining law and order and countering potential threats posed by illegal settlements.
The Government of Pakistan and security agencies remain committed to upholding national security, enforcing immigration regulations, and taking decisive action against networks attempting to exploit the country’s territory for unlawful or hostile activities.
