Operation Ghazb-Lil-Haq Brings Dramatic Reduction in Terrorism Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Since the launch of Operation Ghazb-Lil-Haq on the night of February 26–27, 2026, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has witnessed a significant decline in terrorist incidents, official documents reveal. The comprehensive counter-terrorism operation, targeting terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan and cross-border threats, has led to a 65 percent reduction in terrorism-related incidents across the province.

According to provincial records, prior to the operation, KP reported 240 terrorist incidents during the first part of the year. Following the operation, the number of reported incidents dropped sharply to 80 cases, highlighting the effectiveness of coordinated counter-terrorism efforts. Weekly breakdowns reveal the most significant drop in the ninth week, which recorded 48 incidents, compared to just 12 incidents in the twelfth week. Intermediate weeks also showed reductions, with 42 incidents reported in the tenth week and 29 in the eleventh week. In total, 323 incidents had been reported throughout the year, with a marked downward trend following the launch of the operation.

Speaking to news, Federal Minister for Interior, Talal Chaudhry, emphasized that the operation successfully targeted terrorists and their safe havens in Afghanistan, resulting in the elimination of key masterminds behind attacks in Pakistan, including plots against Islamabad and Bannu. “By striking at terrorist hideouts across the border, we have achieved a tangible reduction in terrorism,” said Chaudhry. “Pakistan will not allow terrorist activities to threaten its citizens, and every effort will be made to eradicate terrorism from the country.”

He further confirmed that intelligence shared with Afghanistan’s interim government had been instrumental in identifying the locations of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives and their bases. Several high-risk terrorists using Afghan territory to plan attacks in Pakistan were neutralized during the operation.

Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, also highlighted the positive impact of Operation Ghazb-Lil-Haq on the province’s law and order situation. “The decline in terrorism is a direct result of the exceptional performance of the Pakistan Army, police, and other law enforcement agencies,” Shah said. “Operations will continue until all terrorist elements are eliminated, and the people of KP can live in peace and security.”

Officials noted that the operation is part of Pakistan’s broader National Action Plan, under which federal and provincial institutions are working collaboratively to eradicate terrorism. Shah reaffirmed that all government agencies are aligned and committed to the elimination of terrorist threats, and the sacrifices of law enforcement personnel in securing peace across the country will not be in vain.

Operation Ghazb-Lil-Haq underscores Pakistan’s resolve to combat terrorism decisively, strengthen border security, and maintain peace within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, demonstrating the effectiveness of intelligence-led operations in neutralizing cross-border threats.
