One Law for the People, Another for the Taliban: UK Tourist Speaks Out

Taliban, Tourist, Law

In Afghanistan it seems to be one law for the people as the Taliban have recently flogged a man and a woman for allegedly having sexual relations, but another for themselves because when it comes to their own fighters, they don’t seem to miss any such opportunity themselves. This claim—or rather, allegation—has not been made by just anyone, but by a female tourist from the United Kingdom.

Toyosi Ossidin, a 30-year-old British tourist, has sparked controversy after revealing she had a sexual encounter with a Taliban fighter during a recent trip to Afghanistan. Speaking to the British media, Ossidin detailed her 11-day journey through the war-torn country, describing it as both “eye-opening” and dangerous.

According to Ossidin, the encounter happened after she ordered food to her hotel room in Afghanistan. The Taliban guard who delivered it reportedly kept returning, sparking a connection. “I asked him if he wanted to come in and watch a movie,” she said. “We had a little food, talked, and then things happened. From then on, we saw each other every day.”

Despite the language barrier — she speaks no Persian, and he no English — Ossidin says the experience was emotionally intense. She described the Taliban fighter as “romantic, touchy, and sensitive,” claiming he “knew what to do” in bed. “It’s not like casual Western relationships. It felt like we had known each other for years,” she added.

A seasoned traveller who has visited 69 countries in the past two years, Ossidin says she tries to have sex in every country she visits, especially where it’s taboo. Her Afghan adventure included visits to remote villages and tense moments at gunpoint, as she struggled to exit the country without a printed visa. She now plans to continue her travels by bus to Ukraine and then Georgia.
