Security forces are conducting a successful operation against the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Fitna al-Khawarij network in Damma Dola and adjoining areas of Bajaur district, with nine Khawarij eliminated so far, officials said on Wednesday. According to security sources, the ongoing operation was launched on credible intelligence about the presence of heavily armed Khawarij in the mountainous region. Ground and aerial assets have been deployed to ensure the complete neutralization of the group’s local network.
The sources revealed that in an apparent attempt to conceal their losses, Khawarij have been hiding the bodies of their dead fighters in caves and underground hideouts. The security forces are systematically clearing these locations to recover the remains and dismantle the militants’ concealment infrastructure.
Officials said the operation is part of a broader campaign aimed at denying Khawarij any safe havens in the tribal districts. “Our actions are precise, intelligence-driven, and focused on permanently eradicating the Khawarij presence in the region,” a security official stated, adding that further engagements are expected until the area is completely secured.
The Bajaur district, located along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, has seen repeated attempts by Khawarij to re-establish operational footholds, using the rugged terrain to their advantage. Security forces reiterated their determination to ensure such efforts are met with decisive action.
