Armed men abducted at least nine tribesmen in Sui tehsil of Dera Bugti district, sparking fear in the area and prompting an immediate search operation by security forces, Levies officials said on Monday. According to officials, a group of armed assailants entered the Gothan area of Sui, where they held residents at gunpoint and seized nine men, who were later taken to an undisclosed location. The abductees were identified as members of the Hajwani sub-clan of the Bugti tribe, who had been tending cattle at the time of the incident.
The abduction has caused widespread panic among locals, with families expressing concern over the safety of the missing herdsmen. Security officials said Levies personnel, assisted by other law enforcement agencies, swiftly cordoned off the area after the incident and launched a search operation to trace the captives.
“The safe recovery of all nine abducted men is our top priority, and operations are under way to locate them,” an official said.
The incident underscores persistent security challenges in parts of Balochistan, where sporadic acts of violence, kidnappings, and tribal feuds continue to unsettle local communities despite ongoing counter-insurgency measures.
