In a powerful show of resolve and strategic clarity, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, presided over the 272nd Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, where the top military brass reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to national security, operational readiness, and regional stability.

The conference opened with Fateha for the martyrs of recent terrorist attacks attributed to Indian-backed terror proxies. Paying tribute to the fallen, the COAS lauded the unshakable resolve and professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces in confronting foreign-sponsored terrorism and executing large-scale relief efforts in the wake of devastating floods, in close coordination with civil administration and law enforcement agencies.

During the conference, the forum undertook a comprehensive review of the security landscape, with particular focus on ongoing counterterrorism operations, emerging threats, and the overall operational preparedness of the Army. The leadership unequivocally declared that the Pakistan Armed Forces stand fully prepared to thwart the malicious designs of Pakistan’s adversaries “across all domains.”

Significantly, the forum issued a stern warning against the “nexus between terrorism, crime, and political patronage,” calling it a grave threat to national security that will no longer be tolerated. “Come what may, the state will not allow this unholy alliance to persist,” the statement noted.

In a pointed response to recent “irresponsible and provocative” statements by Indian civil and military leadership, the forum condemned what it termed New Delhi’s habitual warmongering and election-time war hysteria. The participants warned that such rhetoric risks escalating tensions and destabilizing regional peace.

Reiterating Pakistan’s readiness to respond to any aggression, the forum pledged that any misadventure by India would be met with a “swift, decisive, and retributive response,” obliterating any perceived notion of strategic immunity due to geography. “Any imaginary ‘new normal’ will be met with a new normal of decisive retaliation,” the participants agreed.

The forum also reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling Indian-sponsored terrorist networks, including Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan, vowing to pursue comprehensive counterterrorism efforts across all domains.

On the diplomatic front, the conference welcomed Pakistan’s recent strategic engagements and hailed the landmark Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The agreement, the forum noted, symbolises deep-rooted ties and envisions multi-domain cooperation in response to any external threats, strengthening the regional architecture for collective security in both the Middle East and South Asia.

In line with Pakistan’s principled foreign policy stance, the forum reiterated unequivocal support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. It also voiced deep concern for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, endorsing the two-state solution with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders.

In his concluding remarks, Field Marshal Munir directed commanders to uphold the highest standards of discipline, innovation, responsiveness, and operational excellence. He expressed full confidence in the Army’s ability to address threats across the full spectrum, from conventional and sub-conventional warfare to hybrid and asymmetric domains.

The 272nd Corps Commanders’ Conference marks a critical reaffirmation of Pakistan’s national security priorities amid a complex regional and international environment, signaling both readiness and resolve in the face of mounting challenges.
