LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has strongly criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him an enemy of Islam and Muslims, and rejected India’s attempt to blame Pakistan for the recent Pahalgam incident.
Speaking at the National Palestine Conference held at Minar-e-Pakistan Ground in Lahore, Fazl-ur-Rehman condemned Modi’s rhetoric and questioned the credibility of India’s claims. “What significance does blaming Pakistan for Pahalgam hold? Modi’s statements only confirm his deep-rooted hostility toward Islam and Muslims,” he said.
He also lambasted Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza, describing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “war criminal” responsible for the mass killing of women and children. “The International Criminal Court has already issued a ruling — Netanyahu must be arrested,” Rehman demanded.
Highlighting India’s past “cowardly attacks” on Pakistan, the JUI-F leader accused Modi of aligning with Israel against the Muslim world. “There is a long history of India’s aggression against Pakistan, and now Modi stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel while calling for revenge,” he added.
Fazl-ur-Rehman also urged the Pakistani government to immediately implement pending legislation regarding religious seminaries, stating that the struggle for Palestine’s freedom and the protection of religious institutions are part of the same cause. “We will continue to fight for the preservation and security of madaris,” he affirmed.
The conference drew large crowds and reflected growing public anger in Pakistan over events in both Palestine and India-held Kashmir.
