Military, Tribal Elders Hold Key Jirga in D.I. Khan to Bolster Counterterrorism and Peace Efforts

A significant jirga was held in the Kiri Shamozai area of D.I. Khan, bringing together senior military officials and 40 prominent local elders to enhance mutual coordination, establish lasting peace, and strengthen efforts against terrorists and their facilitators.

During the meeting, military officials reaffirmed the continuation of operations against terrorist elements, stressing that any individual found maintaining links with such actors would bear full responsibility for any resulting consequences.

Responding to appeals from jirga members, authorities released three out of six detainees currently under investigation, following assurances from respected community elders who guaranteed the individuals’ disassociation from any proscribed groups.

Participants of the jirga welcomed the strategy of exerting sustained societal pressure on terrorists and their supporters, and pledged full cooperation with security institutions to restore and preserve peace in the region.
