Militants Resort to Propaganda Videos Amid Declining Strengths

In recent weeks, militant groups have stepped up their propaganda efforts by circulating short videos showing their members marching on deserted roads in remote parts of Pakistan, particularly in the southern regions. Security analysts confirm that such videos are designed to create a false impression of territorial control, despite the fact that these groups remain under pressure and face an acute shortage of fighters.

Credible sources confirmed to The Khyber Chronicle (TKC) that the Afghan government does not support militancy in Pakistan. Kabul has repeatedly conveyed that while some groups operate from Afghan soil, the Taliban administration is hesitant to launch direct operations against them. Afghan officials fear that pushing too hard against these groups could drive them into the arms of ISIS or other anti-Taliban factions, which would destabilize Afghanistan itself.

Despite these challenges, Afghan authorities have on multiple occasions shared intelligence about infiltration attempts by Pakistani militants. Based on this actionable information, Pakistani security forces have successfully neutralized dozens of militants trying to enter from across the border.

Pakistan has also conveyed its firm stance to Kabul: militants safe heavens inside Afghanistan cannot be tolerated as it directly threatens Pakistan’s stability and security.

Observers note that the militants’ reliance on propaganda videos reflects their desperation rather than strength. By projecting an illusion of power, they seek to lure new recruits, but the reality on the ground suggests they are weakened, divided, and facing mounting pressure from both Pakistani and Afghan authorities.
