Khwarij Launch Assault on Bego Khel in Lakki Marwat, Face Fierce Resistance from Peace Committee

Over 50 armed Khwarij launched a coordinated assault on the village of Bego Khel, using both light and heavy weaponry, according to police sources. The attackers were met with strong retaliation from the Bego Khel Peace Committee and local residents, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire that continued for over an hour.

Prepared for such an eventuality, hundreds of volunteers from the Bego Khel Peace Committee, already on alert, responded promptly and effectively to the attack. Police confirmed that this was not the first confrontation between the Khwarij and the local peace force, as tensions have remained high in the area.

Just a month ago, members of the Peace Committee, in collaboration with the police, had set fire to the homes of suspected Khwarij operatives in a targeted operation. That action has since escalated hostilities, with both sides now openly at odds.

Bego Khel is the ancestral village of MNA Sher Afzal Marwat, whose own father was martyred in a previous attack by Khwarij militants. Security forces continue to monitor the situation closely as sporadic firing was still being reported from the area at the time of filing this report.
