In a significant development against militancy in the region, security sources report that Naeem, also known as ‘Doctor,’ a senior commander of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and reportedly affiliated with its Majeed Brigade, was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Officials confirmed that Naeem was a key operational figure in the BLA, involved in the planning and execution of attacks targeting Pakistani territory. Intelligence assessments indicate his participation in high-profile operations, including elements of the so-called Operation Herof 2.0, underlining the continued threat posed by BLA’s cross-border networks.
Security sources emphasized that the elimination of Naeem represents a critical blow to the organizational capabilities of the BLA, which has increasingly utilized Afghan territory as a staging ground for operations against Pakistan. The move demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated intelligence efforts and ongoing counter-terrorism measures aimed at neutralizing militant leadership structures.
Authorities reiterated that cross-border militancy remains a major challenge, requiring vigilant monitoring and continued collaboration with regional partners to prevent the use of foreign territories as safe havens for terrorist operations.
The BLA, a proscribed organization under Pakistani law, has been responsible for multiple attacks targeting security forces, civilian installations, and infrastructure across Balochistan. Security officials emphasized that persistent counter-terrorism operations remain a priority to dismantle such networks and ensure stability along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
