Head Constable Wahab Ali was martyred in what residents described as an act of brutal violence by militants in Kohat, drawing an outpouring of grief, pride, and anger from his family and community.
Hailing from Karak, Wahab Ali was remembered as “another brave son of the soil” who laid down his life in the line of duty. Relatives described him as a man of character, piety, and compassion, someone known in his community not only as a police officer but as a humane and principled individual.
“He was ethical, God fearing, and always ready to help others,” a family member said during funeral proceedings.
At the same time, his martyrdom has sparked sharp criticism of the provincial leadership. Relatives openly questioned the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over what they termed continued inaction against rising militancy.
“How long will we tolerate this terrorism?” a relative asked, adding that neither provincial representatives nor local MNAs and MPAs attended the funeral prayers. “They did not even come to offer condolences.”
Family members pointed to a widening arc of violence stretching from Swat to Parachinar and Bannu, saying multiple districts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are once again under the shadow of militant attacks.
Despite the grief, the family expressed pride in Wahab Ali’s sacrifice. “We are proud of his martyrdom. Our enemies are Khawarij, and the struggle against them is justified,” a relative stated.
Local citizens who gathered to pay tribute also saluted the sacrifices of security forces in the fight against terrorism. Some residents alleged that hostile external actors were backing militant networks operating in the region, though such claims remain unverified by independent sources.
The atmosphere in Kohat and Wahab Ali’s native area in Karak remained tense yet resolute, as mourners pledged that his sacrifice would not weaken their stand against militancy.
