Mardan police have registered cases against eight individuals under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for allegedly posting offensive and provocative content against the Pakistan Army on social media.
According to police sources, the posts, attributed to various accounts including Fawad Khattak, Nauman Khan, Sardar Azam Khan PTI, Roman Shah, Social Media PK 55, Shahbaz Garhi News, PTI Pakistan, and Anwar Shah Khan, were found to contain inflammatory material that could potentially incite public unrest during heightened tensions with India.
The accused named in the FIR include Fawad Ahmed, Nauman Khan, Sardar Azam, Roman Shah, Muhammad Abu Zar, Khaleel-ur-Rehman, Hazrat Hussain, and Anwar Shah.

Police sources added that the social media content posed threats to national security, public trust in state institutions, and had the potential to inflame public sentiment at a sensitive time.
Authorities have preserved screenshots and digital evidence of the posts, which have been shared with the relevant investigative agencies.
Legal proceedings are now underway, and the suspects could face serious consequences under Pakistan’s cyber-crime laws if found guilty.
