The Armed Forces of Pakistan, led by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, and top military leadership, solemnly observed the 67th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, paying rich tribute to his unmatched courage and sacrifice.
Major Tufail embraced martyrdom in 1958 during a fierce battle in the Lakshmipur sector of former East Pakistan. Despite being gravely injured, he fearlessly led his men, eliminated enemy positions, and completed his mission — a display of heroism that earned him Pakistan’s highest military honour, the Nishan-e-Haider.
In a statement issued from ISPR, the military hailed his actions as a timeless example of valour and patriotism. “His sacrifice and spirit continue to inspire generations of soldiers in defence of the motherland,” the message read.
Pakistan’s armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to honouring all martyrs whose selfless devotion protects the nation’s peace and sovereignty.
We salute Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed — a true icon of courage and national pride.
