A potential tragedy was narrowly averted when a large quantity of explosives was successfully defused in the Kandahari Farman Kor area, within the jurisdiction of Lakaro Police Station, District Mohmand.
According to police sources, local authorities received a tip-off about a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a field. Acting swiftly, the Bomb Disposal Squad led by expert Iqrar Ahmad, along with SHO Sardar Hussain, SI Rustam Khan, SI Wajid Ali, and a team of officers, reached the location.
The team safely neutralized approximately 25 to 30 kilograms of explosive material on site, preventing what could have been a devastating incident.
Police praised the timely response and coordination among the forces, emphasising that their prompt action had thwarted a potentially large-scale disaster. An investigation is underway to trace those responsible for planting the explosives.
