A major act of terrorism was averted in Bajaur as security forces successfully defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by militants in the densely populated Inayat Kallay Bazaar.
Upon receiving intelligence about the planted IED, bomb disposal units from the Pakistan Army and Bajaur Police were swiftly mobilized. Acting with precision and professionalism, the teams carried out a controlled blast, neutralizing the device and preventing what could have been a large-scale tragedy.
SHO Loi Sam, Sher Zameen Khan, also arrived at the scene promptly with a police contingent. The area was immediately cordoned off, and a search operation was launched to locate any further threats or suspects.
The incident comes at a time when the people of Bajaur are facing dual hardships; ongoing security operations against militant faction, commonly referred to as the Fitna al-Khawarij, and severe losses caused by recent flooding. Many residents, who had earlier been displaced due to conflict, have only recently begun returning to their homes.
Security forces have paid a high price in restoring state writ in Bajaur, but their efforts have also pushed militants into a state of psychological pressure and fear. As a result, these extremist elements are attempting to flee the region.
In a related incident, a khariji disguised in a woman’s burqa was apprehended by security forces while attempting to escape. The swift action prevented another possible attack and underscored the vigilance of the deployed personnel.
This successful operation reflects the unwavering resolve of the security forces to ensure peace and security in Bajaur, even amidst ongoing challenges.
