Security forces killed nine militants of the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from , including a high-value commander, in a high-risk intelligence-based operation conducted in the Kirri Malang area of Tehsil Kulachi on Sunday.
According to security sources, the operation was launched after confirmed reports of the presence of 10 to 12 terrorists affiliated with the TTP, who had established an illegal checkpoint in the general area of Takwara. Upon being spotted, the militants opened fire on the approaching security teams. In the ensuing intense exchange of fire, the area was swiftly cordoned off, and nine terrorists were neutralised, including the TTP commander Shireen Khan alias Siddique.
The operation was carried out by two Special Hit Teams (SHTs) of a Special Services Group battalion, with surveillance elements pre-deployed for target confirmation. One militant was killed after being rammed by a bulletproof vehicle, while others were engaged and eliminated after a fierce firefight.
Security forces recovered an RPG-7, eight submachine guns, and other weapons from the site. Identification of the deceased militants is underway, with the bodies of Commander Shireen Khan, Ikram alias Shera Badmash, Sohail alias Sor, Awais, Naimat Ullah, and Sana Ullah confirmed among the dead.
Commander Shireen was a notorious militant figure linked to multiple acts of terrorism, including ambushes, IED attacks on law enforcement agencies, extortion, and setting up unauthorized checkpoints on national highways. He had previously evaded numerous operations, including one on March 20, 2025, in which 12 of his associates were killed, though he managed to flee at the time.
One soldier, Sepoy Ashiq Hussain, sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and was evacuated to CMH Dera Ismail Khan, where he remains in serious condition.
Security sources said clearance operations in the area continue and further recoveries are expected.
