Major Security Incident Reported at Frontier Fort in North Waziristan

A serious security incident was reported late Friday at a key military installation in North Waziristan, prompting an immediate response and extended security measures in the area.

According to security sources, the incident occurred near Boya Fort when an explosion was carried out along the western perimeter, followed by an attempted breach of the outer boundary. Troops deployed at the fort responded swiftly, preventing any penetration of the main defensive structure.

Sources said the attackers attempted to force entry after using a vehicle-borne suicide device to damage the outer wall. While a section of the perimeter sustained damage, the inner wall remained intact due to what officials described as an effective and timely response by stationed forces.

During the initial blast, four soldiers embraced martyrdom after being struck by debris and rubble. The fallen personnel belonged to medical and artillery units attached with the defending formation.

Security officials said four attackers who attempted a physical entry were neutralised near the outer boundary, bringing the situation under full control within hours.

Repair and reinforcement work was immediately launched, with troops and protective materials deployed to restore the damaged section of the wall. Authorities said clearance and security measures are continuing to ensure the area remains secure.

Weapons, ammunition, and communication equipment were recovered from the attackers, including submachine guns, grenades, an RPG launcher, and radio sets. Some of the recovered explosives were found to be damaged.

Security officials said the foiled attempt reflects continued threats against security installations, but stressed that defensive preparedness and rapid response prevented a potentially larger breach.
