Lower Kurram: Security forces thwarted an attempt by a banned militant group to flee into Afghanistan from their hideouts, killing at least three terrorists and injuring several others, officials said.
According to security sources, last night near the Pak-Afghan border, a group of 25 to 30 militants was observed moving toward Afghanistan. The group, attempting to escape the reach of security operations, was engaged promptly and effectively by security forces.
Today, the disoriented militants were targeted, resulting in three confirmed deaths. Two bodies were recovered, while a third militant’s body was reportedly destroyed by a mortar strike. Several others sustained injuries during the operation.
A security personnel also sustained minor injuries during the engagement and received immediate medical attention. Authorities confirmed the officer’s condition is stable.
Officials linked the operation to the upcoming Tirah campaign, noting that even though the full-scale operation in Tirah Valley of Khyber District has not yet begun, its impact is already being felt across Khyber and adjoining districts.
Security authorities reiterated their resolve to continue the fight against these enemies of humanity with the nation’s support until the last militant is eliminated.
