Community elders and residents from different areas of Lower Kurram have announced full cooperation with security forces to safeguard peace and prevent cross-border infiltration by militants from Afghanistan.
The declaration came from areas including Mangak, Shorko, Tangi, and Wali Chena, as well as such as Makhai Zai Sadda, Arawali, and Mula Jan. Elders from both sects emphasized that protecting the region’s peace and securing the border is a collective responsibility.
Participants stated that they would support strict action against Afghan-based terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the border, reaffirming their resolve to deny space to any elements seeking to destabilize the district.
Joint Iftar at Shorko Border
In a symbolic gesture of unity, members of both sects gathered at the Shorko border area where they shared Iftar with soldiers of the Pakistan Army deployed along the frontier.
Witnesses said chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” echoed through the area as civilians and troops broke their fast together, signaling solidarity between local communities and security forces.
Local leaders described the gathering as a message to hostile elements that sectarian divisions will not be exploited to undermine stability in Lower Kurram. They stressed that peace in the district depends on cooperation between communities and institutions tasked with border security.
The development comes amid heightened vigilance along the western border, with residents underscoring their commitment to supporting efforts aimed at preventing cross-border militancy and preserving inter-sect harmony in the region.
