On July 20, 2025, a peaceful gathering, known as a “Pasoon,” was held at Kambar Bazaar checkpost in Lower Dir, where local residents firmly expressed their solidarity with the state and their collective rejection of terrorism. The event aimed to demonstrate public support for law enforcement agencies and to send a strong message against the militants operating in the area.
The Pasoon was organized under the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami, local elders, tribal leaders, and representatives from various political parties. All speakers unequivocally condemned terrorism and demanded that the militants, known as the Khawarij, immediately vacate the region. Participants stressed that the people of the area will no longer tolerate any presence of terrorists in their communities.
Throughout the gathering, there were no anti-state or anti-security slogans raised. On the contrary, the public clearly stood shoulder to shoulder with the state institutions.
Unfortunately, as usual, the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) attempted to distort this peaceful event by falsely portraying it as a protest against security forces. This misleading propaganda exposes PTM’s role as a political face of the Khawarij and reflects their desperate attempts to stay relevant by spreading disinformation.
The people of Lower Dir have today sent a strong and united message: they stand firm for peace and alongside the state against terrorism.
It is worth noting that on the same day, the people of Lakki Marwat also assured full cooperation to security forces during a high-level jirga, pledging support in the ongoing fight against terrorists and their facilitators. Whether in tribal districts or settled areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the public’s resolve against terrorism is unanimous and unwavering, eagerly awaiting the government and state institutions to eradicate this menace once and for all.
