Lakki Marwat’s Operation Raises Fresh Questions Over Afghan Taliban Commitments

An Afghan national was killed during a terrorist attack in the Takhti Khel area of Lakki Marwat district, raising fresh concerns over cross-border militancy and the failure of Afghan Taliban assurances to curb such activities.

The deceased was identified as Wali Usman, an Afghan citizen belonging to Logar province in Afghanistan, sources said.

The incident occurred on Friday when armed terrorists launched an attack on Takhti Khel village using a quadcopter drone, dropping explosives and opening fire on the local population. Civilians, including women and children, were deliberately targeted, triggering panic and fear in the area.

Despite the attack, unarmed villagers mounted a defensive response. During the exchange, Wali Usman was killed along with his accomplices.

Sources said the attacker had entered Pakistan from Afghanistan under the guise of so-called jihad and was involved in carrying out terrorist activities inside the country.

The incident has once again highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding concerns that Afghan soil is being used for cross-border terrorism, despite repeated commitments and assurances from the Afghan Taliban and appeals by Afghan religious scholars to prevent such violence.
