Lakki Marwat Police conducted a major search-and-strike operation across sensitive areas including Dadiwala, Abasa Khatak, Samandi, Wanda Galapa, Machan Khel, Akhundan, Malakhel, and adjacent sensitive zones near Bannu district. Hidden hideouts established by extremists were destroyed. In this successful counterterror operation, CTD, Elite Force, and additional police personnel participated.
Simultaneously, a search operation was carried out in Begokhel, Masti Khel, and adjoining areas. Checkpoints were established for inspection of suspicious individuals.
Air surveillance using drones aided real-time monitoring, while multiple suspects were detained and transferred to local police stations for interrogation.
On February 13, militants carried out a cowardly quadcopter attack in Lakki Marwat, injuring two police personnel. The wounded officers were immediately provided medical assistance and shifted to Khalifa Gul Nawaz (KGN) Hospital, where doctors confirmed that both were out of danger and receiving the best available treatment.
Following the attack, a heavy contingent of Lakki Marwat Police, Peace Committee members, and additional personnel from Bannu Police, backed by Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), rushed to the site. A search and clearance operation was launched across the surrounding locality to trace the attackers and neutralize any remaining threat presence.
During the operation, police adopted what officials termed a timely and effective counterstrategy, successfully shooting down one of the militants’ quadcopters. Security sources said the hostile drone was brought down shortly after police deployed their own surveillance drone, which proved highly effective in aerial monitoring and tactical coordination.
As police air surveillance intensified, militant drones reportedly disappeared from the airspace, indicating disruption of the attackers’ operational capability.
Officials further indicated that multiple militants were believed to have been injured in the retaliatory action.
