Prominent religious scholars from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have delivered an unambiguous verdict, declaring that the ideology and actions of the Khawarij are entirely outside the fold of Islam. They emphasized that such extremist elements bear no relation to the teachings of the religion and must be decisively rejected by the public.
In a joint statement, the scholars categorically stated that the mindset, ideology, and violent conduct associated with the Khawarij are in direct conflict with the core principles of Islam. “Their actions are a distortion of faith and an open rebellion against Islamic values,” the scholars said.
Calling for public vigilance, they urged citizens to stand firmly alongside state institutions in defeating these militant elements. “It is not only a national duty but a religious obligation upon every Muslim to promptly report the presence of such terrorist Khawarij to the relevant authorities,” they stressed.
The scholars warned that the ideology of the Khawarij constitutes a grave fitna one that endangers both the religious fabric and societal peace of the country. “This deviant thinking not only contradicts the spirit of Islam but poses an existential threat to any Islamic society. Confronting and eliminating it is among the most urgent needs of our time,” they added.
The unified stance by the province’s most respected ulema reflects a growing resolve within Pakistan’s religious leadership to isolate and expose extremist misinterpretations of Islam that fuel violence and terrorism.
