KP Records 1,762 Terrorism Incidents in 2025: CTD Annual Report Reveals Scope of Militancy

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has released its annual report for 2025, detailing the scale and nature of terrorism across the province.

A total of 1,762 terrorism incidents were recorded last year, with Bannu district witnessing the highest number at 430 incidents, followed by Dera Ismail Khan with 137, South Waziristan with 111, and North Waziristan with 213 incidents.

The violence took a heavy toll on human life, with 707 fatalities, including 159 police personnel, and 272 others injured during the year. In counter-terrorism operations, security forces killed 395 militants across the province. However, the province also suffered 9 suicide attacks.

The militants engaged in 628 firing incidents across 14 districts, along with 179 explosive device blasts, 71 hand grenade attacks, 34 rocket and missile strikes, and 80 drone attacks. 88 people were abducted, while 149 extortion cases and 117 targeted killings were reported. Authorities also registered 151 cases of facilitation and 26 cases of terror financing, reflecting the organised networks supporting militant activity.

The report paints a stark picture of the intensity, diversity, and geographic spread of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, underscoring the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining law and order across the province.
