A conference of prominent religious scholars from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held under the supervision of the Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre (PIFTAC), focusing on countering extremism and promoting social harmony.

The meeting featured in-depth discussions on the role of religious scholars in preventing radicalization and violent extremism within society. Participants examined various dimensions of countering extremist narratives and explored practical ways to contribute to the establishment of a peaceful and stable social environment.

Among those who attended the meeting were Maulana Ehsan-ul-Haq, Maulana Hussain Ahmed, Maulana Mirajuddin Sarkani, Allama Abid Hussain Shakiri, and Maulana Ubaid Sheikh.

The scholars exchanged views on strategies and mechanisms to confront extremism, stressing the importance of early intervention, responsible religious guidance, and sustained engagement at the community level.

Discussions also covered the registration of madrasas, the need to streamline their administrative and academic systems, and the importance of building institutional linkages between religious seminaries and formal educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities.

Participants emphasized dialogue between madrasas and state institutions, highlighting the need to complement religious education with modern subjects to better equip students for contemporary societal challenges.

The scholars unequivocally condemned all forms of violence and terrorism, reaffirming that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving social and ideological disputes. They stressed that religious leadership has a critical responsibility in countering misinterpretations of faith that fuel extremism and undermine peace.
