Kohat: Six Khaearij were killed during a joint operation carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and police in the Lachi area of Kohat, officials confirmed.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat Shahbaz Elahi, the operation was launched after security forces received intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the outskirts of Lachi. As soon as the police and CTD teams reached the location, the militants opened fire, prompting security forces to retaliate.
During the exchange of fire, six militants were killed. DPO Shahbaz Elahi said that a large quantity of weapons was also recovered from the militants.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and a search operation is currently underway to ensure the presence of any remaining militants.
It is worth mentioning that a day earlier, security forces also conducted an operation in Lakki Marwat where six militants were killed during a similar action.
