In a dramatic overnight operation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police thwarted a heavily armed assault by Khawarij on Loyi Mamund Police Station in Bajaur district, exhibiting extraordinary courage and tactical resolve in the face of a fierce and well-coordinated attack. The assault took place late Monday night when Khawarij militants, armed with rocket launchers, SMGs, RPGs, and hand grenades, launched an aggressive offensive targeting the police station. The attackers used heavy weaponry in an attempt to overrun the facility, but the police officers held their ground with remarkable tenacity.
Despite sustaining minor injuries from grenade blasts, Station House Officer (SHO) Fazal Khan, along with Constables Torsam, Shakir, and Hassan Khan, maintained their positions and led a counteroffensive that successfully repelled the attackers. Their swift and fearless response inflicted casualties among the assailants and forced them into retreat. Reports shared that several Khawarij were injured in the retaliatory fire, although the exact number remains unconfirmed.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, lauded the bravery, discipline, and unyielding spirit of the officers involved in the operation. He announced cash rewards and commendation certificates for the police teams that defended the station, calling their stand “a symbol of resistance against the enemies of peace.”
“The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police will chase these Khawarij to the very end,” IGP Zulfiqar Hameed declared. “This is the final phase of our fight against this menace. We will dismantle their networks and ensure they can never again threaten the people of this province.”
The incident marks a renewed affirmation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s unwavering commitment to confronting violent extremism. As the frontline force in Pakistan’s war against insurgency, the police continue to demonstrate that the guardians of the state will never allow the Khawarij to prevail.
