Khawarij Set Fire to a House in Bajaur as Voices for Decisive Action Grow Louder

Khawarij, Bajaur, Security Forces

In the Zagai area of Loi Mamond, Bajaur, terrorists linked to the Fitna al-Khawarij (fthe banned TTP) set fire to the vacant house of Qari Saifullah, son of Lal Zamin, in the early hours of the night. The militants, after carrying out their act of sabotage, fled to an undisclosed location, according to sources.

This act of arson is not the first time the house of Qari Saifullah has been targeted. Last year, security forces raided his residence, during which two militants were killed. The house had previously been a site of conflict, making it a symbol of ongoing tensions in the region.

Since the failure of the local peace jirga (council) with the Khawarij, security forces have been actively conducting operations in Bajaur. This unrest follows a period of continued infiltration and sabotage by militants, causing widespread concern among the local population.

In the days preceding this arson attack, a Grand Jirga of tribal elders was convened, where the participants strongly demanded that the Pakistani military take decisive action against the Khawarij. The jirga participants expressed their frustration over the militants’ persistent border infiltration and destructive actions, stating that they were left with no choice but to pick up arms and declare a war against the foreign militants who were threatening their region.

The continuing tension in Bajaur highlights the increasing challenge of dealing with terrorist elements exploiting local vulnerabilities, despite efforts from local leaders and security forces to bring peace to the area.
